Introduction: What is ModMii?

ModMii is able to download all the files needed to modify ANY Wii, WiiU or vWii; it can generate custom guides based on your console's specifications, and save the files in their appropriate locations for easy offline softmodding where possible. Sample guides for illustrative purposes only are available here.

It is also capable of performing many other Wii\vWii hacking functions like setting up a usb-loader and creating an emulated NAND. ModMii was also the very first official installer for the widely adopted d2x cIOS.

Even if your Wii's SD Card reader is broken or you just don't have an SD Card, you can use a Hard Drive formatted as FAT32 in place of an SD Card to complete the majority of ModMii's functions (SD Card notably required for Bootmii and making a NAND backup). In fact ModMii can help users softmod a Wii even without an SD Card or Hard Drive (as long as it has internet), but unless one or the other is eventually incorporated there probably isn't much point.

ModMii only works on Windows, and ModMii v8.0.0 and higher requires 64-bit Windows 8.1 or later. If you do not have a Windows PC and are unable to run ModMii you can try running Windows in a virtual machine or just use wii.hacks.guide or wiiu.hacks.guide instead.

The video below describes some of ModMii's many features; however note that it was created before WiiU & vWii support was added in v8.0.0.
<ul style=align="left" type="disc">

Softmod any Wii, WiiU or vWii

Generate custom guides depending on the options that you select

Update only your outdated softmods based on a SysCheck log from your Wii or vWii

Check for updates to your Wii\vWii\WiiU homebrew

Softmod Wii and vWii completely offline without requiring internet on the console

Safely upgrade or downgrade your Wii System Menu to 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3 protecting against 003 bricks

Able to build a custom easy to follow guide to setting up a USB-Loader (including how to format/partition your external hard drive)

Install SNEEK (Wii only), build emulated NANDs (Wii & vWii) and Batch Extract Wii/Gamecube Games for use with SNEEK+DI or UNEEK+DI

Load NEEK on a Wii without softmodding it using the Abstinence Wizard (i.e. Non-permanent Wii Hacks)

Region Change Your Wii

Download\build IOS & cIOS WADs, Official Wii Channels, System Menus, Homebrew\apps, etc.

Install patched IOSs without a wifi connection on your Wii\vWii

Customize Bootmii, Wad Manager and MMM config files to adjust their start-up settings

Build Wii\vWii\Wii-Mini System Menu Themes

HackMii Solutions Wizard for Wii's experiencing an upside-down homebrew channel or HackMii Installer No Vulnerable IOS problems

Advanced Custom Downloads Feature to easily patch and change the slot/version of IOSs/cIOSs. It can also build 3 different types of forwarder dol's and iso's (only use this feature if you know what you are doing!!)

Drag and Drop \ open various file types to perform different functions (e.g. nand.bin check\clone\defragment, WAD modify\unpack\trasmit\info, mym & csm theme creation, dol & elf app launcher, zip HBC transfer tool, patch deflicker video filter, modify EmuNANDs, etc.)

and much much more!

<ul style=align="left" type="disc">

8.0.4 Changes - 2025:06-25:

USB Loader GX updated to v4.0 r1282 final! Thanks @wiidev aka blackb0x!

ModMii's App update checks are now able to distinguish between USB Loader GX v4.0 r1282 test versions versus its final version.

Adjusted the USB Loader GX download to alway retrieve the latest version from the developer's github instead of oscwii.org; change made at the developer's request.

During oscwii update checks, Wii apps will get updated immediately if an app's folder exists but is missing boot.dol\elf or meta.xml files.

Updated UWUVCI on ModMii Classic's Download Page 5 to download and extract its zip instead of the exe installer which can no longer install itself silently.

Alternate hashes accepted as valid for applicable downloads to align with rustii NUS downloads\implementation.

Added BlueBomb (info and link only) to ModMii Classic's Download Page 2. Also updated the description of ThemeMii Mod on Page 5 describing how it cannot download base app files but users can retrieve them from ModMii.

Added d2x-cios-installer-vwii & d2x-cios-installer to ModMii's File Cleanup list.

Replaced Dump Mii NAND with nanddumper@IOS (thanks thepikachugamer!) on Download Page 2 and in vWii guides. nanddumper@IOS is now also mentioned in Wii guides as an alternative to Bootmii to make NAND backups for those users that have a Hard Drive but not an SD Card.

If a disc-based exploit is selected in vWii-Only ModMii Wizards the WiiU Browser-Exploit will no longer be included as a secondary exploit option. This is to avoid confusion and the unnecessary downloading of Aroma, EnvironmentLoader, Nanddumper & CompatTitleInstaller.

Added additional method (DiskPart) in applicable guides to convert Partition Style to MBR for SD Cards and Hard Drives. Also removed the Windows Disk Management method from SD Card MBR conversion options since this method does not work for removeable disks. Added spoiler buttons to toggle between MBR conversion options.

Updated MyMenuifyMod warnings to clarify only v2.0 or older is dangerous on vWii; ModMii still recommends csm-installer.

nand-aes-dump.exe is no longer used as part of ModMii's process to extract nand.bin's to use as an EmuNAND. ModMii now uses a slightly faster\simpler method that also supports nands dumped using nanddumper@IOS (nand-aes-dump does not support nands dumped using nanddumper@IOS).

Filesize sanity checks are now also conducted when inputting a 2nd nand.bin to clone or defragment.

ModMii now fixes user path inputs if forward slashes "/" were entered instead of back slashes "\". This was only ever an issue if running ModMii as Admin.

Updated bundled version of WiiPy to fix a bug that would occur if channels were installed to EmuNANDs they would not display when using NEEK. They would show up in dolphin however, which is why this issue was not noticed sooner. Older versions of ModMii already had this fix applied during update checks since April 22, 2025.

Fixed a rarely encountered bug where some downloads were skipped if included in the same queue (e.g. Region-Select-NUS-v2[E].wad & vWii-Region-Select-NUS-v2[E].wad). It only occurred when downloading certain Wii and vWii items in the same queue.

Fixed bug when generating a vWii-Only ModMii Wizard guide if just one disc-based exploit was selected.

Other minor changes and cleanup.

In loving memory of @pyorot, aka shoutplenty; his light burned too bright and too fast. He will be forever missed and remembered by those he touched. RIP my friend.
