This is an enhanced port of Genesis Plus, an open-source Sega Mega Drive / Genesis / Game Gear / Master System / Mark III / SG-1000 emulator, originally developed by Charles MacDonald, running on the Gamecube and Wii through libogc & devkitpro.
This project is initially based on Genesis Plus 1.3 source code but, with respect to original code design, the core has been heavily modified in order to improve emulator overall accuracy / compatibility, and add support for many peripherals or yet unemulated cartridge hardware.
The result is that Genesis Plus GX is extremely faithful to the “real thing”, can run the entire Genesis / Mega Drive game library (including all unlicensed & pirate available dumps) and the majority of Master System games (through Power Base Converter backwards compatibility). As a bonus, it now also provides very accurate emulation of SG-1000, Game Gear & Master System consoles hardware for 100% compatibility with the respective software libraries and available ROM dumps. Last but not least, it comes with plenty of exciting features that have nothing to envy to your most favorite PC emulators.
Multi-platform code is FREE FOR NON-COMMERCIAL USE and is maintained through this repository so that other Genesis Plus ports can take advantage of it, as I sincerely hope this emulator can become a reference for open-source and accurate Genesis emulation.
